Closing Poem - One at Rest and Closing Words

Poem: One at Rest – Author Unknown

Think of me as one at rest, for me you need not weep.
I have no pain, no troubled thoughts, for I am just asleep.
The living, thinking me that was is now forever still
And life goes on without me now, as time forever will.
If your heart is heavy now because I’ve gone away,
Dwell not long upon it, friend, for none of us can stay.
Those of you who liked me, I sincerely thank you all,
And those of you who loved me, I thank you most of all.
And in my gracious lifespan, as time went rushing by,
I found some time to hesitate, to laugh, to love, to cry.
Matters it now if time began, if time will ever cease?
I was here, I used it all, and now I am at peace.

Closing Words

Don’t be afraid to mention Tom’s name, for he has lived and by talking about him, recounting the stories of his life, keeps him close to you, in your heart - for the love you have for him can never be forgotten.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to pay your respects to Tom. If you would like to make any donations in his memory the family have kindly asked for these to go to Willen Hospice.

The family now welcomes you back to The Talbot Inn to raise a glass and to continue to remember and celebrate the life of Tom.

Thank you everyone.
